I was the Different Kid. I often felt like I was on the outside looking in. I think I always sensed something different about me that I lacked the wisdom & experience to define. As a teenager, I did everything to fit-in, but I never quite did. I KNEW I wasn't crazy, but could reach no more-viable conclusion at age 16. I eventually left the Suburbs for the City—wide-eyed & optimistic that I would find people with the same inclination to question the Way Things Are. I knew that the Authenticity, Passion, Obstinacy, Integrity, & Fearlessness I once stifled were in actuality the facets of myself I most cherished, no matter how unpopular it was to think this way. Life taught me that most people are 'Sheep-le.' They follow the herd, never asking 'why.' They mindlessly act as everyone does: without Intention or Purpose. Original Thought is a rarity because people are so preoccupied with being Socially & Politically Correct. Instead of differentiating themselves, they regurgitate News Headlines & Pundits’ Political Rhetoric because it is so much easier to be told what to think than to THINK. I judge based on Accountability, Ambition, & Competence, rather than Net Worth & Possessions. Purpose is the most essential element of life, for without it, there is no passion & without passion, isn’t it just killing time? I could never live life in the Middle. I live for things like Joie De Vivre, Spontaneity, ‘Squeaky Wheels,’ making a Ruckus, making Love, LOUD Music, Soft Music, Jew-Fros , laughing Babies, Bagels WITH Cream Cheese, Sushi with Extra Ginger, gratuitous use of Exclamation Points, Irony, Sarcasm, Big Words, & Self-Expression. These things make me happy & feed my soul—I don’t need a Closet of Clothes, Fancy Car, or a Mansion in Suburbia for that. Perhaps the elusiveness & intangibility render me 'complicated.' But I’m used to being self-sufficient & don’t need someone to PROVIDE this life for me; I’d prefer for a man to LIVE it WITH me.
